The WELS churches in Olivia, Danube, Flora Twp. and Renville (along Hwy 212) host an annual soccer camp for children between the ages of 5 and 13, no matter what skill level or soccer experience. The camp is held at Voelz Athletic Field in Danube, MN. For more details and the most up-to-date information for the upcoming session, please check our website.
Camp Croix has been a place of retreat and fellowship for our youth, adults, church groups and families since 1951. Camp Croix as it exists today was purchased in 1968. It consists of 160 acres located in north western Wisconsin. Located on Rooney lake, there is 2100 feet of lake shore to enjoy swimming, boating and water activities.
Camp Croix was initially a Gold Star Mother Camp. The Gold Star Mothers were a group of mothers and wives of World War II veterans whose sons or husbands were either killed during the war or shortly after.
Camp Croix is available for use all year round. It consists of the lodge which also contains 6 upstairs bedrooms. There are 35 individual cabins that sleep an average of 4 people per cabin. The Red Cross building is used by the Nurse during bible camp weeks and is available to rent out year round including the winter months. For a map of the campgrounds, see camp layout information.
Camp Whitewater is a summer group camp for the young members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). It is operated by an association of 25 WELS churches of the Winona, Minnesota and La Crosse, Wisconsin area. Camp Whitewater has been in existence and operation since the 1930’s.
At Camp Whitewater, the campers enjoy daily devotions, Bible study, singing, crafts, outdoor activities, fishing, swimming, evening entertainment, camp fire devotions and songs, plus many other fellowship activities.
Minnesota Valley Lutheran Camp (Camp Shetek) exists to provide elementary age children – Grades 3 through 8 – the opportunity to worship and grow in their Christian faith as they participate in outdoor activities under the direction of Christian Counselors.
Minnesota Valley Lutheran Camp is held at the facilities of the Lake Shetek State Park’s Zuya Group Campground, located near Currie, Minnesota. This Campground has three cabins with bunk beds for the campers – each accommodating 20 campers and 2 counselors. An additional building is able to house 12 additional campers and includes a large room where we teach our Crafts. A Main Lodge is used for meals and larger group gatherings, such as, daily Bible Study and devotions. Lavatory facilities are found in one common Bathroom building that is separate from all of the cabins.
